Blogging on my Kindle Keyboard 3G

Blogging on my Kindle Keyboard 3G

In two weeks i will be leaving sunny England to travel around South East Asia.
i have bought a Kindle for reading but I have bought the Kindle Keyboard 3G.
i bought this versiom for two reasons firstly so that i could have the mini keyboarde
for writing notes which i enjoy doing (i wrote my degree dissertation on a mobile
phone, I like small keyboards) and I wanted the free world wide 3G and the experimental
browser. this means that I have to be patient because its not a fast machine or
connection. But all around the world I will able to connect. use gmail, facebook,
wtter and blogger. Its an amazing opportunity and combined with my solar powered
charger this becomes a very robust world wide connection device.

I think that the future of personal computers will go two ways. low powered e-ink
devices for content storage display and creation. the second will be the role of
implanted bio tech. Small little computers focused on social connection, communication
and media consumption. Google glasses will be a first step, soon they will be
implanting HUD displays into our eyes.

Fishkeeping in a Cambodian Rice Field

Improving subsistence farmers diet with fish husbandry in Cambodia How can a bunch of fish ponds make a real difference? This summer I am travelling around South-East Asia, including Cambodia. In Cambodia I will be visiting some NGOs and  voluntary aid projects . I meet with our main contact this week and most of the work is focused on people projects, teaching English,  prison visits , drug addiction etc but they mentioned one project where they help rice farmers start fish husbandry projects. These projects are designed to help the local subsistence farmers grow on fish to adult size for increasing the protein component of their diet. Being interested in all forms of fish keeping I hope that when we travel to Cambodia I can visit the project or at least meet up with the team managing the project. It sounds like a fascinating and practical way to help some of the worlds poorest improve th...

200 word rpg challenge - entry idea "The labyrinthine library"

For the last few years  David Schirduan  and  Marshall Miller , have run a 200 word rpg challenge . The simple concept is a competition to " Design a role-playing game using 200 words or less ." With a panel of judges going through the dozens and dozens of entries. Reading through previous years entries has inspired me to give it a go. Below is my attempt at writing a simple rpg in 200 words. I would love to hear any thoughts people have after reading it.  The Labyrinthine Library Need  Scrabble tiles, DM & 3-4 players Players are the Arcanist’s assistants. Sent into the labyrinthine library to find a lost spell scroll. The DM makes up a series of challenges. Character creation Characters have 2 HP. Take 2 scrabble tiles. The Letters are your Initials. Make up your names. The numbers give you 2 abilities from list below. 1 = +1HP 2 = nimble 3 = goodshot  4 = brawler  5 = small animal companion (cat/owl/ferret etc) 8 = academic 10 ...

Isaac Asimov previendo el impacto de Internet - YouTube

How amazing that Asimov predicted so many of the things we are seeing today over 20 years ago. I think Isaac Asimov is the perfect example of how Sci Fi writers (either books, TV shows, movies and more) are some of the best guides to what will happen in the future, If you rewatch the 2001 space odyssey film you will A) improve your life and B) see an iPad decades before we get it in our hands. Sci Fi does a great job at both predicting and i think shaping the future! Sadly a large part of this video is dedicated to one potential benefit of the internet that Asimov is excited about but we have still not seen. The education system has still not been shaken up and we are not letting people learn in a natural discovery way or with reference to their own passions. Asimov is talking about a wide scale education overhaul which is made possible by the internet and technology. I hope that this will come true!
